The new building of the Macedonian National Theatre was built on the site which provides the most beautiful views on the city, on the left river bank where the old Skopje Theatre was completely demolished in the earthquake in 1963, after more than half a century.
In addition to the lavish baroque interior, the new theater is distinguished by the highest level and standard of technical stage equipment.
During the two-year erection, Svetlost Teatar fully justified and confirmed their high technical quality and reputation of a Theatre Contractor.
The theatre has two stages, the main stage with 750 seats and a small stage with 230 seats.
The designed, manufactured and installed stage machinery system fulfilled the need of the theater for a higher possibility of stage transformation, as the user’s priority request.
The orchestral zone is equipped with a movable orchestra barrier and orchestral platform with 5 independent tilting modules.
The stage zone is equipped with a tilting platform and four stage platforms, out of which the first two are fitted with 5 secondary modules that can be put at an angle. Module speed 0.5m/s.
Side stages are equipped with a total of 6 compensation platforms and 6 stage wagons with dimensions 10mx2.5m
Backstage plan is equipped with the backstage compensation platform and stage wagon with dimensions 10mx10m incorporating a ring and a central turntable.
Other systems-complete equipment of the upper machinery of the stage, steel fire curtains, stage lighting system for the main and the small stage, audio-video projection system, stage floor.
We especially recommend two main curtains, the main theater curtain with a harlequin, hand-embroidered, and second painted vertical curtain, painted surface of 120 m2.
The opening ceremony with the brilliant performance "Eternal House" directed by Dejan Projkovski took place on 7 December 2013.
